storytelling

I have spent the past decade telling stories. In print, through photos, or through video, I hope to provide a platform for those who don't have one and shine a light on both issues and solutions. I have worked for news institutions, including USA Today, The Guardian, Mother Jones, and HuffPost, helped launch a publication at a tech company, and produced an award-winning documentary. I hope you will check out some examples of my work below. Thanks for taking the time.

I tell stories. Can I tell yours?

Hi there! I suppose if you've scrolled this far you are looking for a bit more about me. For the past 15 years or so I have been a journalist but that has led me in a lot of different directions. Ultimately, my focus has been on people, the problems that plague them, and the innovative solutions driving progress.

That's meant reporting from inside prisons, within protests, or across public lands. I have spent my days buried in documents, on the front lines of natural disasters, both behind and in front of cameras, or with fingers on keys. But no matter where my work starts or the tools I use to do it, it all comes back to a desire to tell the important stories that help us make sense or answer questions or mark moments that will shape history.

These days I call myself a climate reporter. I currently serve as the Guardian's extreme weather correspondent who writes about our warming world. You can also find my work on USA Today, Mother Jones, VICE, and Huffington Post and I hold a Master's Degree in Specialized Journalism from USC.
